The Beetham Tower is a landmark 47-storey residential skyscraper in Manchester city centre, England. Built in 2007, it is named after the developers, Beetham Organization, was designed by Ian Simpson and was built by Carillion.

At a height of 168m, it is the tallest skyscraper in the UK outside of London, tallest building in Manchester, and overall the eighth tallest building in the United Kingdom. The skyscraper is visible from ten of the thirty eight English counties on a clear day and is the tallest residential building in the country

It consists of a Hilton Hotel up to level 23 and apartments from level 25 up to the triplex penthouse on level 47 There are also 2 basement levels, which contain car parking for the residents of the apartments. The tower lies on Deansgate and has two postal addresses, with the apartments falling under 301 Deansgate and the hotel under 303 Deansgate. Widely referred to as Beetham Tower, it is also known colloquially as the Hilton Tower due to the corporate logos placed on the 24th storey, on each side of the building.

Wow. Great shot. I was going to say that I don't remember this building, but just realized that I haven't been through Manchester since 2005 so that would stand to reason. Time flies!

Is it only me or does anyone else think it looks out of place there :-o

i agree glen, its on its own and the top end of a busy main shopping road through the city but looks soooooooo out of place. Can be seen form all approaches into Manchester.

On a windy day when your close to the tower it makes a really funny whistling noise..........lol, that thing on top is supposed to help reduce this noise. It is also quite close to the studios that film coronation street and the whistling often disrupts their filming.
