Very nice series there Chris. I like the PP you have used and the way you have selected the arrangement in the first; figure tree, Santas etc (mind that tree is just on the border between being decorated and becoming a pile of trash!!). Lights are a nicely observed detail and I love the Xmas Village, especially the way a couple of the figures are disappearing into / emerging from the snow. I guess the only thing I might have been tempted to change in editing are the 2 down-lighters just cutting into the sides of the border in the first shot.
Thanks Pete - agree on the tree, it's groaning under the weight of the decorations!
I used the down-lights to center the shot - you think I should PS them out?
The Christmas village was an unexpected bonus - quite a display.
I set white balance on the snow, but it looked too blue on the laptop, so I warmed it up a notch in PS - looking at it now on my calibrated monitor I think it might be a touch too yellow!
Thanks Laurie - I'm very happy with the new lens and the clarity of the images I'm getting.
I'd read a number of Internet horror stories on the 50mm - including a whole blog by a guy who just ranted against Canon about it - on and on and on...
Hence my keenness to shoot a whole bunch of shots ASAP to test it out - the poor clerk in the lobby thought I was a spy or reporter or something!
I rather liked the lamps as well - the repeating theme appealed to me, and the lighting came out really nicely - just had to photoshop out a few white power cords!
