Ah, I’ve just finished reading The Day of the Triffids - it was Triffic! Much better than the TV version from the 70s (?).

Yes, it does look like an old-fashioned (= best) phone, hence the conversation alluded to in the title. Glad there was someone around here intelligent enough to get that!
