I Shot Myself...

Works well I think. Maybe a slightly higher viewpoint would have provided a more natural eye contact with the camera. You could also have exploited the long exposure to add a bit of movement blur to you hands - Maybe just the first couple of seconds so you could then concentrate on keeping a steady eye contact with the camera. Ten sconds seems a long time when you have to pose doesn't it. That's why I was so impressed that Ina managed to hold the pose so well in the long exposure shots for the DIY camera. One of them was a minute - we even did some for 2 minutes!

quite a dreamy photo with the look on your face as if the shoot was taken from a fly on the wall sort of look, thought provoking and inspirational

I reckon that, considering "Freddy" is only a damn fly.............. That is a pretty good effort for him.

I like this Rob. The close crop above your head makes a statement of your eyes and the lack of detail on the head-stock avoids drawing the eye away from the main subject.

Also, given time for the eyes to settle on the image your slight lean to the right works very well with the guitar body top. Both your shoulders and the body top shapes compliment each other very well.

If I were to be real picky it would be to have avoided your leg getting in front of the guitar body when using a low key effect because the leg isn't obvious, so it looks like an editing error around the guitar body.

Please take my observation as constructive Rob as I feel it wrong if I didn't mention such a small thing in such a strong image.

Rob, what the hell were you thinking...

... NO HAT! :D

Very nice self portrait - liking the higher contrast look

Nice self-portrait, Rob. Lovely guitar too.

I've been reading about Vivian Maier just lately & the tie is, she took a good few shots of herself too. Wonderful street photographer IMO & a wonderful find of all her work too.
