Quite. Although I suspect from various comments it might be a movie lens and so was built for 35mm cine film. Love the effect though. I will investigate further.

It is. Maybe that's a consequence of the huge front element (giving the speed and also a larger image circle). Or maybe it was derived from a larger format itself.

Seeing that article on that other forum got me all excited until I saw the bloody money involved ... This Russian glass is getting quite dear!
Even the Jupiter-8 50mm f2 ltm is becoming more valuable ... I blame eBay
