i got mine for a fiver but it seems this is about the cheapest now

It fairly obviously a rip off "Gorilla pod". I fact some may speculate that it is in fact a gorilla pod in cheap packaging ...
I dont own a gorilla pod, but i have sold a few and used them quite often. This is definitely not as good quality, it feels cheaper and even looks less well put together!

Like a gorilla pod it can be attached to a standard size camera tripod mount

looking at the back of the case part you would think that this thread screwed into the threaded hole

it doesn't, the plate for attaching to a standard camera slots out by pushing the button on the side (exactly like a gorilla pod) and the case part slots on like this.

The iphone then slots into the case and happy days, iphone on a tripod

So, is it any good?

well it works

but it is a bit on the cheap and crappy side and is prone to falling apart

It slots together very easily though so its no real worry, my only concern is that after a lot of use the joints might loosen!

BUT, lets face it, this is a cheap product. It is a fraction of the Joby version

Would i recommend it?

If it is just for casual use once in a while, or a bit of fun then yes!
If you a dedicated iphoneographer who wants a quality product i'd probably look else where

id give it a 6/10... It works, and its very cheap!

It also has a bonus use, works as a stand stand for watching your favorite TV programmes

Interesting Hamish. Thanks for the thorough review. As you say it doesn't look anywhere near as well made as a Gorillapod. I have a medium sized Gorrillapod with a B&S head. Very hand thing and good to throw in a suitcase. Amazingly it even supports a D3 with a 24-70 mounted!
