I'm happy that it's getting to that time of year. It needs to get just a bit cooler here to make me feel the need for some mulled cider though.
Oh ya...nice apple shot.

This tree I shot at the beginning of the year with the last apple, it's nice to see that despite it looking rather sad, (The Tree that is) it's nice to see it flourishing and producing great fruit...

Mmmm, I'd eat this years apple rather than last years! :D

Lovely summer colors Kev - like the OOF tree and the placement of the apple

Scrumping is good fun as scrumpy used to be. Wonder if scrumpy origins are from nicking apples? Very close to where I live are several farms which make cider in the traditional way. people take there casks or these days gallon plastic cans to fill. . It is cheap and deadly. A flat drink which on the first sip tastes very odd, but soon starts to flow nicely. The local pubs who stock the cider will only allow half pint measures to be served to unknowing customers, with a couple of pints the limit. I have not drunk for may years now, but remember this drink as being dangerous. After three pint's you'd leave the pub feeling good, but if you needed to get up in the night, there was this delayed effect. Whilst trying to stand at 3am in the morning, the legs would not be there, but the mind seemed coherent. All very odd that it had more of a physical effect than a mental one. There was the infamous Sunday cider run, to collect containers of the drink, which I never participated in and quite wisely too. The odd thing is the alcohol content cannot have been that great but the effects are very different from most alcohols I new.

Great stories Julian, we too have proper cider in the vale, I well remember a visit to the Monkey house' well actually that's not true, I remember very little other than I went there with some mates back in the late 70's we now have some tamer ciders either that or the pickled liver has long given up
