Isn't it Grand?

I recently made my first visit to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. At 7,000 feet they had 8-12 inches of snow the day before.

This is one of those places that you have to see in person to begin to get the depth of the landscape, the rich colors and vastness of this place.

I hike about 4 miles down into the canyon and dropped 3,000 feet. I was still another 2 miles and 1,500 feet from the river. It was truly amazing and hope all of you will get a chance to see it sometime.

Fantastic stuff Dennis - and with the snow to give it that little extra touch

I think most people think the Grand Canyon is hot all year round, not knowing the altitude.

I remember seeing a tour-bus full of tourists arrive at the South Rim from Phoenix, and people getting of dressed in T-shirts and shorts - with the outside temp a good 6 degrees below freezing :D

The gift shop does a brisk trade in sweatshirts, gloves, hats and scarves!

Great Shots Dennis.

I'd love to go there. I would really take pleasure in getting lost in the canyon, weirdly as it seems. :)
