About 3 weeks ago i bought myself a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 just because i had a go with my friends and think for the money it offers amazing results!

But yeah, since im cheap i tried to get it for as little as possible thus resulting in buying it on ebay from HONG KONG!!!! therefore it only arrived today!

but on the bright side, WOOP new toy! haha

I have the f/1.4 version, you'll enjoy it, I often go out with just the 50mm now and it makes you think and work harder than with a zoom, the light weight and sharpness are great.

I like the portrait although I would probably have made it a bit darker and cropped a bit off the top but is shows what the lens can do.

The dog shows the problem you'll always have - what should be in focus? Usual wisdom is to focus on the eyes, but in this case the nose works well too!

For people, to focus on the eyes switch to single point focusing.

I used to own this lens and paid less than $100 for it at the local camera store (Nelson) a few years ago, but it looks to have gone up in price quite a bit since then. So £75 isn't bad, even for the US!

Haha its in for MOT at the mo, i only bought it recently and its not 'quite' tip top yet, but not far off soon as i get it back i intend to get a few more pics of the whole car
