I've got a new toy! - infrared

I've been meaning to do this for ages, and Chris's efforts finally spurred me on to get my fundament in gear...:)

I now have a Hoya R72 infrared filter to play with and the moment I finished work I was off out for a quick test drive...
The exposures were reasonably easy to figure out, at least for a quick test. I took a series of different exposures, so I can explore these in more detail later to refine the settings.

Then came the processing...
I still had the camera in RAW, which gave me a moments pause till I figured out to set a custom white balance.
I'll have to work out wether this is something I can do easily in camera or rely on the RAW processor.

Then it was into photoshop and Topaz to see what I could do with the images...
All I've done here is to swap red and blue channels and adjust levels then un it through Topaz to teak the effects. It sounds a lot of processing, but not much more than I would normally consider doing.

First a standard B&W....

Thanks for the comments...

I have to apologise for a less than riveting subject, but I didn't have time to go too far afield as it was clouding over rapidly.
The snowscape look is part and parcel of the infrared effect, I think, though with a different subject, possibly an urban landscape it may not be as prounced.

Looks a lot like Christmas Adrian! ;)

Love the BW one myself - looking forward to seeing more
