Played a very important part in the wars I'm told. I took this one snowy winter.

PS; If you don't mind everybody, could I point you all to a post I put on the Forum Comment board situated at the very bottom of the home page where things can easily get lost. Would be interested in hearing other views.

You mean this one? http://realphotographersforum.com/forum/threads/cause-for-concern.19352/

Nice image, Tom. Cold and bleak. Cold-war related feel about it. I like how I can just about see the thin line connecting the pole to the wind sock. I wondered what that sock was at first - looks like it is passing through the tower. In fact, the angle of the sock really makes the picture, cutting as it does across the verticals.

If Rob hadn't called that diagonal thing a wind sock I'm not sure I would have recognized it as such. (At that angle I would have expected it to be partially deflated, that's why.) I like this image, Tom. The blacks, whites and grays have lovely tones.

I like Bleak Airfields and this shows just how bleak they can be....as for a could be shot from one of my playsets, I'm humbled @Beth Anthony that you think it could be so...

There is an airfield just out the back of where I live, getting on it is....a bit risky, still some covert stuff going on there, and surprisingly enough I have been approached even when outside the wire....DSC_3982.jpg
I too like the thought that this could be from another era and the also like the B&W and in the bleakness it would not be right any other way IMO..

On the other point @Tom Dunne I have read with interest but refrained from comment as I feel that that I have little to contribute to the thread that hasn't already been written but I like to think I contribute on both sides when I feel I have something worthy of the image I'm viewing...for me often silence doesn't mean non-participation and if I am perfectly honest I find it hard to keep up at times .
