Kilmainham Gaol (Irish: Príosún Chill Mhaighneann) is a former prison located in Kilmainham in Dublin, which is now a museum. Kilmainham Gaol played an important part in Irish history, as many leaders of Irish rebellions were imprisoned and some executed in the prison by the British and latterly in 1923 by the Irish Free State.

Been there, Peter. I hated the part of the for where they brought you to the execution area...very dark, in every way.

Good shot, this one, though!

Quite a painful history. Similar to what the fascist did in germany did 1939-1945.

I applied for a teaching job in Belmarsh (Category A, sometimes called britain's guantanamo). The prison system on the whole does very little to look into the roots of why many do what they do, as such the prisoners have little chance of rehab.
