Tech Support (and Marketing)
Going through a few old photos this avo and had a butchers at my kenya shots most of which unfortunately died in a hdd breakdown ...
This one is one that survived that for some reason i never pped ... thought id give it a go this avo ... I dont think my landscape stuff is much cop to be fair ... i dont often find it that inspiring finding the end results often dont do much for me compared to the original experience ... this, i quite like though ... what do you think

Rudi, i sharpened this using your method, and despite it being quite soft initially due to it being take with my sigma 15mm which is a little soft round the edges, this i think has come out pretty good since having your method applied ...

are you sure that's level? ;)

Great vista there Hamish, where was it taken?

On my monitor it looks to have a slight tone cast - maybe a quick auto colour in Photoshop/Lightroom to tweak that out?

I think the whole composition is great - those clouds give it a really nice feel

The horizon is certainly not flat ... It was taken with a fish eye lens ... As for level ... No idea ... :)

I messed with the colours for effect ... Is that a no no in this sort of landscape photography?

No rules Bruce - just had that look you see from a scanned slide sometimes, slightly greeny

That'll be right I tweaked up the green ... Do you think it detracts from the image?
Looks ok on the iPhone4 screen which I find to be a good reference ... Perhaps it's just a matter of taste?
This is well out of my comfort zone in terns of genre of photography ... I'm going to Wales for a week in June and I'm going to try my hand a bit more at this landscape lark ...

Great stuff Hamish! Not an easy capture with the high dynamic range present in the image! Well done!

When you down-size an image it normally looks softer, I will normally re-sharpen again after the reduction, not as much as the first time but still a bit. Having said that this image still looks sharp to me with quite a bit of detail. If it was a RAW capture it might be worth combining 2-3 develops to help with the dynamic range.

Thanks for sharing, looks like a spot worth visiting.

Yes, I'll have a crack at a multiple exposure version, see if I can get a bit more out of it ... To be fair though, the camera did a good job ... If I think to I'll upload the raw version so anyone can have a go ... See what can be got from it ...
I do like using the fish eye in this way, I know its not always wise to to the horizon dead centre, but it is a good way to get this sort of shot to look right without to much bendyness ...
I'd love a rectilinear 15mm mind, or maybe even the 14-24 nikon zoom ... But I just wouldn't use it enough to justify it ....
That is of course the benefit of crop sensor cameras ... Lenses like the sigma 10-20 etc ...
I'm wittering a load of nonsense .... I have a migraine ... Please excuse me :)

Is 'migrane' code for 'alcohol induced confusion'? LOL

Nope unfortunately not ... I'm alright now ... Im not sure it was a migraine to be fair, I do get migraines and sometimes I get these head aches that I wake up in the morning with that feel like migraine head aches ... That's what I had this morning ... And a day in front of a bunch of computer screens did it no good... I felt terrible this evening ...
Oddly a really hot curry fixed it :)

Ah ha - I have the ones that come on in the night then ruin most of my day :(

Result with the curry though!

I really miss good curry...

We have a great local curry house called Monti's, I had this dish called "desi haandi" which is on the menu quite sumply as "tradition home made curry" ... It's so nice ... Very spicy, but not stupidly-hot-ruins-your-food-and-the-next-morning hot ... Just right!
We are only 20 miles from Birmingham too ... The home of the balti ... So we have quite a few to chose from ...

Hannah was telling me you don't get much curry in the US ... She said when she was out there she couldn't even find rice in the super Market ... Surely that can't be right?

New sharpened for web version looks good :)

RE Curry - it's gaining popularity here in California, but is not that common.

The restaurants mostly sell a very tame curry, a very mild strength - the locals just aren't used to Birmingham or Leicester strength curries! LOL

You can get rice ok - not sure where she was looking in the store - quite possible she missed it

There are a few stores that sell 'exotic' foods - like World Markets - where you can even get jars of curry sauce and naan etc

The missus isn't that keen on curry - but son #1 loves it

Also have a buddy here who's from NZ, and he loves a decent ruby as well - we're always on the look out for a restaurant that actually delivers.

I seem to have gained a bit of jpeg artefact above the shelter on the left ... Ah well bit more practice is needed I fear!

I can't imagine living somewhere that it's hard to to get a curry delivered ... We have about 8 menus on our pin board and that's after we have chucked a few out!
I find a lot of curries from a lot of places round these parts a bit spice over taste or just bland... It's probably a bit snobby, but I do prefer the more "traditional" dishes to the stuff they make for English people... Spice should come with flavor, not as a substitute to it!
