Laura's Dad

Hamish Gill

Tech Support (and Marketing)
Im doing some photography for a company that import furniture from India at the mo ...
They have a studio at their warehouse that they have kitted out with all the bits and bobs for shooting.
On friday whilst they were faffing with some cabling, Laura's Dad popped in to see how they were getting on.
He sat right under one of my lights, so i felt it appropriate to take a photo of him ...

Hamish,

in this case I think it's a BIT too contrasty.
I reworked it, with your permission!

It's too light now.

In between maybe!!

Nice shot, Hamish. I like the slight OOF. Its full of character, that picture.

poste script: Personally I see no need to fiddle with the contrast.

Hamish I think it was very appropriate to take it, it would have been extremely rude not to have done so, it is a very natural portrait, the shadows create the right balance between them and the subject, the only thing I would do and it's purely personal is to have a landscape format, I know its not within the normal portrait rules :D, cropped just above the hands, to take out what I find a distraction in the highlights in the 'thing' against the wall for me then it ticks the boxes, having said that I do like the square format for Ports, there is that MF in you Hamish :D

Very appropriate and very well captured Hamish. Lovely tones, I'd prefer the contrast as it is according to my taste buds.
Great stuff :)

Cheers all!
I find there is something that doesn't sit right...
The light was to bright so some of the highlights clipped a bit, it's a bit of a rescue job really ...
Worth it though I think!

Well worth it Hamish - of course using film in a Blad, the clipping would probably not have been an issue...

(You can mention this to your good lady wife as justification) ;)
