The new Leica X Vario seems to be causing quite a stir over at DPR! Normally I never look at that site but I figured this would cause a bit of frothing over there!
I've just read most of the review at Reid Reviews (Welcome to ReidReviews - a subscription service). Shaun has had the camera for several months and has done an extensive review, which is quite favourable (especially regards image quality and the performance of the lens - it's slow for a reason I guess) and pretty objective (a small volume camera made in Germany is going to be expensive, no big surprise). OK, not for me, but still an interesting camera. There's a smaller review here:
The Leica X Vario - previously known as Paula
One thing I did learn was that the supposed re-badged Panasonic cameras are co-developments and the lead designer, Kaoru Mokunaka, left Panasonic to work for Leica at Solms before the X1 was produced. Aside from the smallest cameras they are made at Solms.
