Man Seeks Medical Attention

Presumably.

What a cheap and shameful way to lure you into looking at this picture, I know. But if you are reading this and are willing to read on, here are the details:

This is the inside outdoor upper gangway of the Los Altos Medical Center in Long Beach, California. I had stopped here to photograph the outside of the building, which is of the Googie style. The place also had a nice, if past its prime, foliage infested foyer which drew me in and got me to wandering about.

Olympus XA3 and expired Kodak BW400 (C41).

Wow, keeps the eyes busy with those lines. Cracking!

great title Brian, drew me right in :)

What's the 'Googie style'?

Thanks, Chris.

"Googie" is a style of architecture influenced by space-age themes. It came about in the late 50's/early 60's I think. It's characterized by sweeping rooflines, star or rocket motifs, flying saucer-like shapes and so on.

The famous Theme Building at LAX is an example of the Googie style. As I understand it, the name was taken from a coffee shop here in the LA Area called "Googie's." I believe Southern California was the main area in the country for Googie architecture.

Well, I'm upset because I expected blood.........

Oscar Niemeyer would definitely be "Googie."

Cool photo even given the fact there is no blood or disemboweled people.

Thanks Steve.

Please don't be too disappointed; The XA3 lacked sufficient focal length and resolution to prove that the man in the photo is not un-disemboweled.

Oscar Niemeyer would definitely be "Googie."
Not sure about that, Steve.

lol steve!

cool comp., the grain and tones make it feel like a photo that was taken shortly after the building was built.

Thank you Beth.

You trickster. In fact, a two-timing trickster! ;)

However, trickster or not (even if the two-tiing variety), tat is one damed fine image. Lines, lines, lines. Superb. :)
