Steve, these are AWESOME!!! :D Great compositions and wonderful use of color. My favorite ones are the red motel sign, the last photo with the angel statue, and the one at the motel with the blue car. Honestly, your Barney's sign came out A LOT better than mine. I didn't think about that angle. Also, I am really digging the filter on the red motel sign and Barney's photos...I wonder which they are. OH! and the first photo with the train tracks is GREAT with the two women in the background. Wonderful work Steve. Seriously awesome. :)

"I will shoot thieves" the Wild West is alive and well. You guys are really giving us a different view of America, and I thank you for it.

you'll have photography tourists if you keep posting these up .... If I had to pick a favourite it'd be the red sign

Thanks Rob! I must say I am really starting to enjoy the Sigma cameras.

I was really shocked by the decrepit condition of the Post Office there. I couldn't get a good shot of it because of the where the sun was. I may try to go back.

Thanks Davie!! Good luck finding a clean hotel/motel. :)

I grew up in a small town. I am always saddened by how national chains, be it restaurants or stores, have managed to close down all the local businesses. Economically it's just horrible for these small towns.

I like them all too, albeit there is a lot of fun in them, there are I'm afraid, at least to me, a lot of sadness as explained. My boss and I drove throught many north-western towns and states for 6 weeks the last time, but never saw any of these conditions. Well done mate. Is the south struck more by this than the north?

The southern US is far worse off except for maybe some of the Rust Belt states. It's always been the poorest part of the US. The poverty rate here is rather shocking. If you think this is bad you should see some parts of the Deep South like Mississippi (where I was born) or Louisiana or Alabama. Mechanized farming definitely has hurt. The saddest part to me is how the Walmarts, Church's Chicken's, et al have just killed off all the locally owned businesses. I suppose there is really nothing you can do about it.
