Maurizio, from Paris, France

Hallo everybody,

i am Maurizio, from Paris, France. Got a Kodak Instamatic 50 when i was a kid, a Yashica FX3 at the University, and thirty years later a Canon G11; the FX 3 still works.

I have a been a beginners for a long time, and currently i am trying to learn a bit more about photos, reading books (the great Michael Freeman books to start) and looking around for nice forums. How beginner ? Up to a couple of week ago i believed that the main purpose of a wide angle was to put more mountains in a landscape photo.

I am glad i found this forum; i fully share the intent of the founders, as many other i think the quality of the communication is the most important thing in a forum.

By the way, i am a software engineer to pay my life, and a musician to make my life interesting.

Maurizio

Hi Maurizio, and welcome to RPF.

FX3, eh? Nice. Do you still shoot with it? Looking forward to seeing some pictures. (Your home town is quite photogenic!)

What instrument(s) do you play?

Well, last time i used the FX3 was probably 2004 :-< ... but a couple of weeks ago i saw a Ilford FP4 film on sales and i had a moment of serious doubts :->

About the photos, i have some photo on a flickr page (you can find it from my profile); i count to upload here some photo to get some feedback, of course :->.

For the music, i compose, and more recently playing jazz piano (beginner, there also :).

Hi Maurizio welcome to RPF, i am sure you will enjoy you time on our fab friendly forum.

(PS i am spending a week in paris next week cant wait :-) )

Welcome Maurizio - so glad you found the forum, and looking forward to seeing you grow your hobby

Hello Maurizio. I am new here too so hopefully we can learn together; it is true that I am still learning after 45 years of trying to take good pictures.

I particularly like your picture of the accordion player so I've marked that as a favourite.

Thanks, that was a lucky shot; i like it, and i sort of understand why it is nice, but i am not sure the result was completely intentional :->. Anyway, it was at a bagpipe music festival in a small village in Molise, in the south of Italy; there was a lot people around jamming italian folk music ...

Maurizio - if you were not stood in the right place, if you had not chosen that effective composition and then pressed the shutter at that moment then the accident would not have happened. Sometimes we make our own luck or more likely when we stop thinking too much then our intuition takes over. Here is to more lucky shots of that beauty. :)

Edit: I have always believed that "may the force be with you" is about not over-intellectualising things, but just going with the flow of you sub-concious or intuitive reaction, whatever you want to call it. I don't have Jedi powers, though.
