McClellan-Palomar Airport

My local airfield used to be a tin shed and a runway until a year or two ago, and then all of a sudden they found some money and built a lovely posh terminal.

Palomar Airport is still small, but it sure looks pretty :p

Thanks Brian - Longish exposures (20-30 sec) gave me a couple of light trails of passing cars and that was it!

I did get approached by security - who very nicely asked me if I was shooting for personal use, or for commercial use.

He was very pleasant, and asked if I could provide my name 'just in case'.

I showed him my ID and we chatted about the shots I was taking, and he left we a cheery 'have a good evening' :D

Now why can't security in this country be like that instead of the ignorant nob-heads you usually here about...

These are nice Chris!
I especially like the tones of the sky in the first ones!
They had a "canon" sky feel to them, slightly magenta I think, but it seems to suit your part of the world!
I'm not sure that last one would past the Bradley test though, I'm not sure them verticals is vertical ;)

Thanks Hamish - yep, I know I need a T&S lens, but they are too expensive for the use I'd give them :(

That was the last shot of he night, taken as security approached, and I didn't get my level set front-back, hence the slight keystone on the verticals

I know that story mate!
Sounds like you had a positive run in with this security guy though, that's good! Do they tend to be a bit better over there do you think?

Hamish - not sure that US security are any different to UK - this guy was pleasant and non confrontational, and I was very positive and chatty in my responses, so it all worked out well. :)

Pete - the sky has been super clear for days here, with very low moisture content and offshore winds from the desert - makes for lovely clean grads and great long range visibility

I was going to call you out on the verticals of that last shot, but Hamish beat me to it. But all in all, very professional-looking shots you have there. Since I am very familiar with this place, I can say you captured the feeling of being there very well. You actually make it look nicer than I think it is in real life! As for TS lenses, you're welcome to play with mine when we go shooting!
