Like the effect Hamish reading Ricoh always makes me think about my Ricoh XRX which I got rid of because it ate battery's but when I took it in to get something a little better walked out with my F3 as a straight swap (the shop had loads of F3's in) (I can try those lenses on the D3000 as well) which I still have

Cheers guys!
thats a very good swap Dave!
I remember you saying you had an f3... What lenses have you got?

... If you plan to use them much it might be worth looking at a d80 or similar instead!!

A 135 80-200 zoom, 35-80 and 50mm a 28mm wide I sort of have started looking at them instead or its an idea at the moment although its older the D80 still beats the D3000 in lots of areas

It was very good swap the thing was he had just hd 30 F3's in from the local paper the one I had only had beem a reserve camera for all its life and sat in the office the XRX was all bells and whistles and he said he could get more for that than the F3 because it had all the functions which the students in Cambridge were looking for

Ooo ill tell you what you could look at ... Maybe a fuji s5 pro ... That would give you all the functionality of the old lenses ... As would a d200 actually! The fuji would take stunning photos with some of those lenses and you would feel familiar with the way it handles colour!

As with everything at the moment its a case of getting what I can afford lol the D80 is just about affordable the d200 if I dont get a lens I could squeeze to the only thing about the D200 is it sensible as a first DSLR or is it going to be above me with it being my first DSLR the d80 would mean ordering a lens from one place and camera from somewhere else (not really a problem)

Same!

Erm, they aren't hard to use ... They just don't have "auto" ... But "auto" is just "p" with auto flash ... So ... I doubt you would struggle, are we are here to hold your hand should you need it!

the thing with the d200 (for eg) over the d80 is that it has a aperture index couple ... Basically it will recognise whe you change the aperture on your old lenses and meter accordingly. The d80 you would have to take a photo and check the exposure on the screen on the back.

I am likely concerned for for no reason my first camera was an MTL 5 which was all manual with a light meter in the view finder as for program I normally shoot on that anyway rather than fully auto because if I want to change it I can
