Met an interesting character in Princess Street

Saw a gent, probably in his sixties, in Princess Street with twin-lens Rollei, while we were both focussing on the fog-enshrouded castle. We got talking. Turns out he is from New York, though he has been living in Switzerland for many years. We talked for quite a while before exchanging names. He turns out be one Paul Boisvert, and this is his WEBSITE. He said he only shoots film these days. He was a pro, now retired, I think, with a few students.

He gave me his business card, and it was only after reading his website bio did I realise we had more than photography in common - he is a musician. Well, I have his email address now.

I don't know how his shots turned out, but here are some of mine. The air is just hanging heavy with moisture from yesterdays' torrents - overnight too, it seems. Everything is soaking wet, and a thick mist is hanging overhead.

Thanks, Brian. I like the first. The statue is of the playwright, Alan Ramsay, author of the Gentle Shepherd, a pastoral play from around 1720.

Wonderfully atmospheric Rob - I had to squeegee my monitor after viewing them! ;) and I love the contrast with the 'chillies' picture! :)

And not only has your acquaintance got some super images on his site and an interest in music, he shares some elements of your style - the White series.

Glenn - what happened in the sixties should stay in the sixties. I'll try to remember that next time! ;)

Pete - Yes, he has clearly ripped off my overexposed series, and was probably lurking around Princess Street in the hope of catching me at work. Look out for his Dreich Series, followed by his Wobbly Series!

PS Thought your comment about the squeegee hilarious!

I'm very partial to number 3 Rob - love the saturation (water and color)

Would love to see larger versions of Mr Boisvert's shots as well
