Well more play than work and I quite like this shot taken using a DIY snoot so I thought I would share. Took quite a few shots to get the lighting in exactly the right place and to get the right facial expression.
Wow!! very dark.... but I like it!!! this is the sort of stuff I'm becoming newly attracted to... the external flash work that is... great job Paul!!!!
Cheers Dan. Getting the flash off camera makes such a difference it's opened up all sorts of possibilities. Could do with a lot more power though! I find the flashes have to be very close if you use some kind of modifier.
Sorry paul i dont dont like the lighting at all, i find the image way to dark to the point of being under exposed........ I dont think using off camera flash has achieved anything here saying that i know sod all about off camera flash lol
I think you have a point there Pete. Its been bothering me too but I've done f-all about it until now. I've had a play and got rid of the highlight and it does make a huge difference. Also ramped the exposure up a bit and quite like that too.
Yes, that certainly helped. I think the muted tone suit the mood of the shot better though. I also think a square crop (just cutting into the hair) or maybe 5:4 might work well and frame the shot nicely. What do you think?
