Critique Welcomed Mum

Just look at that lovely engagement with the photographer - did you use some bounce flash Grez?

The only thing I'd add would be a bit of warmth - the equivalent of a skylight filter from them olden days

It would put more color into that happy smile, and really make the sweater pop

Thanks Chris. One of the reasons I was so keen to get this new camera and flashgun was for the purpose of being able to use bounced flash again. I've rediscovered the joys of taking pictures indoors. The highlight in the eyes is given by a little bit of pop-up white card on the back of the flashgun that deflects some light forwards and really works to add that little twinkle. I suppose I ought to tone down the gleam from the lenses on her glasses, though!

Were you a Skylight 1A or 1B man?

Actually, if the truth be known, I think I prefer it with the highlights left in the spectacles....

Given the colder color temperature of UK light, you'd have to say 1B for a bit of added warmth Grez! :D

Nice job with the bounced flash - so much more natural than the head-on, 'deer in the headlights' look of straight on-camera flash
