This is a shot of my CD player taken last year on one of the rare occasions we had some sunshine. It was shot using a cheap Fuji S5500 in RAW and then tarted up in Photoshop. My passion in Hi-Fi is vinyl replay and valve amplifiers especially the EL84 valve.

Nice light Shaun, and a rather expensive looking CD player!

How do you reconcile the CD player and your love for vinyl and analogue audio?

Chris, I find that as time passes I am getting to like the sheer convenience of CD replay over vinyl whereas in the past I was never into a love of music for the sake of convenience. I find it all rather like photography really as I much prefer the image quality of Fuji Velvia to any digital source I have ever tried. The realism and depth of quality with any analogue source is quite simply stunning whereas in comparison, digital is trite and very superficial. I am in this for the passion and the complexity, I am not in this just because it is convenient. I love CD replay of some material but I adore good analogue with a passion. Most of the analogue I buy these days comes from Amazon but of course practically all of it is recorded digitally. It doesn't detract from the sheer bliss of using a turntable, arm and cartridge and it makes no difference to the valve amplifier but it is a constant struggle to say which I absolutely prefer, except in photography where I always prefer analogue.
