My New Trip

Had a play with my 'new' Olympus Trip35, to check it all works properly and there are no light leaks, etc. I've converted most to B&W, I just prefer the look of it.

This one is a bit wonky (I take a lot like that...)

Great pics. I am very impressed by the exposure of each shot, and they seem very sharp. I knew nothing about these cameras until joining this forum, but they are definitely growing on me. I am seeing why they have become a cult camera,

I like all your shots, but I particularly like the railway lines in number 4, and how they draw you to the horizon.

Thanks Stan. I nearly didn't take that shot, was only cause I had 3 shots to finish the roll and thought 'what the hell'.

I'm impressed with this camera, too. I haven't processed the shots (except to de-saturate and crop), this is how I got them back from Boots. As long as I remember to adjust the focus (I forgot a couple of times) they come out ok.

I'm wondering if number 4 would look better cropped to a square - not sure if all that sky is strictly necessary.

cracking set

The Trip really does do an amazing job for such a 'simple' camera - although I'm seeing that it's really rather clever in the way it works, so it's only simple in that it's easy to use

Really nice set Andrew. The way the many forms and lines intertwine in the second is superb, also liking the last shot a lot.

thank you Julian. the second one is somewhere I see every time I go for a run, been meaning to get a shot for months now. I really like curved brickwork :)

I can't wait to get my film through the dev shop.
These are cracking!!!

I think the trip 35 is a kind of camera that has gone full circle back to the original box cameras with the slogon 'you take the picture, we do the rest' with the fact that box cameras you just have the one option, the shutter release, nothing else. The Trip 35 is the same and it seems that if everything is working correctly it looks a great camera to shoot on with great automatic exposures, a truly great point and shoot without the hastle of selecting anything.

What film did you use btw?

It was Agfa Vista Plus 200 - ie, Poundshop film

Haha!! No way!!!
I've just picked up 4 rolls today. Can't wait! Didn't expect it to be that good! :)

I just picked up 6 rolls today lol :D btw, be careful with the poundland film, it seems that the new batch is now 24 exposures, whereas originally it was 36, had to pick out the 36 exposure rolls from the shelf, there were a lot of 24s there.

The film is actually pretty good, not as saturated as say a fuji film, but now its much easier to get good results if scanned and then tweeked slightly in post production.

My local ran out of 36exp a month or so back, I took the last 6 rolls. :(

I hear some branches now have a cheap Kodak that isn't very good, but I can't remember what it's called. I might have to stock up on 24exp Agfa if that's what's coming next.

I think its some Kodak gold stuff, I will probably stock up when I do see some 36 exp rolls, the stuff I have expires August 2014.

Oooohh, I didn't look out for any 36's... The first one I picked up was a 24 leaving me thinking that there was only 24's.
I'll have a look next time.
24's for a quid is still not bad either, especially with those results.

2nd and 3rd photographs are just wonderful, Andrew. 2nd is more unique, but both compositions are outstanding. :)

Numbers 2 and 3 are my favorite. Can't wait to get out to shoot with mine. Thanks for posting these!

Thanks Darren. It's a fun camera to shoot with, I'm heading into the hills this week with the 2nd roll, to see what I can find :)

Thank you Nihat. I'd been meaning to shoot the 2nd one for months, but still not sure I've got the perfect angle. :)

That's the beauty of this, I think, Andrew. We keep going back in search of perfection. :)
