Huntington Beach Central Park on the day they had a gathering of Pacific Island peoples. Dancing, food, music, and generally a nice little gathering of folk. But why do I like this shot,...which has no particular draw for the eye? Maybe it's the color and the unfocused areas at the edges of the image that appeal.

I took this shot with one of my Holga 120N cameras and Kodak Portra 400 film.

I know what you mean Kev, I like it but it has no strong conventional element other than it is was it is. I often have photos that I really like but seem not to be able to get anyone else to share my enthusiasm for them. I'm thinking of putting them in a gallery called "My Guilty Pleasures".

For me, it's reminiscent of some of the French Impressionist paintings, which frequently depicted outdoor scenes in settings like this with lots of people and no discernible focal point, because the point was to show "everyday life" and the play of light and shadow, rather than a specific subject.

I certainly see the appeal Brain. Tones and focus a re great. There is a lead of sort though to my eye; drawn in to the first group from the LH corner and then to the man looking towards the centre: what is going on over there? You can't quite see because the group is obscuring the view. Super stuff.
