New or used Nikon 35mm

I'm a bit undecided which way to go. I want to get a prime lens for my D7000 and that's where I'm struggling.
I want a 35mm to give me a 50mm equivalent field of view and for about the same money the choice is a new
Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f1.8G or a used Nikon 35mm f2.0 AF Nikkor D. Any advice would be appreciated.

I guess the biggest factor is whether you are likely to move to a full frame sensor in the near future (or want to shoot film). The DX lens is designed for the APS-C sized sensor whereas the other will cover both. The difference in maximum aperture is small but the DX lens is bit 'faster' and the later lens will probably focus a bit faster. The DX lens is reputedly a bit sharper and may well exhibit higher contrast under certain conditions due to its newer coating technology. The older lens has an aperture ring whereas the newer is only controllable from the camera. If you are sticking with DX cameras for now, I would go with the DX lens I think.

The d is a great lens... But really Petes advice is about spot on!
The AF is definitely faster too I'd say!
I had a go with Tom Brookes' dx on the way back from focus (where he bought it). That was on his d7000, I was very impressed...
Made me wish if forked out or the 50mm 1.4 afs to compliment my ageing 'd'
