Newt In The Kitchen

No... the cats couldn't have brought him in because they only go in the garden through the porch and with our knowledge. However - we found Bubu and Gremlin play fighting over this little chap in the kitchen a couple of days ago. According to the kitten, he came from the gap by the wall and where the ants tend to come from in the summer. I assume he's a newt. He was returned safely to the wild in the woods next door and not far from a pond

A newt indeed. I found one wandering across my living room floor a few years back looking a bit dehydrated. I assume it had come under the front door. I popped it in the pond and we had newts in there for 17 years after that. They disappeared last year and I assume they didn't survive the harsh winter.

Thanks Pete! What is it with wildlife? We have mice living under the floorboards and in the gaps in the walls. There are now several dozen harlequin ladybirds moved into our bedroom for the winter. A whopping great hornet keeps trying to get in upstairs and now a newt...

I know. I am regularly invaded by Bank Voles. Not the brightest of critters and are easily tempted by chocolate and re-located back outside.

We had newts like that in our pond when I was a kid! They used to fascinate me!

We used to have one of those brick things, but I got this for emergencies only. It failed while I was in the Peak District last year, so I didn't dare fall off Mam Tor or get gored by one of the Curbar cows - actually that's bullocks to you. I have a brand new smart phone now. I even remember to turn it on once in a while...
