Nikon D5100

Heard some second hand news through the shop from one off the reps about a D5100 on the way...

Side articulated screen, 16.2 mp sensor (no doubt the same (sony?) one that does such a good job in the d7000)
apparently better image quality than the d90 its set to replace the d90 and d5000, nicely filling the currently slightly uncomfortable gap between the d3100 and d7000 that the d90 and d5000 currently occupy

should be interesting...

I for one would love a camera with an articulated screen for all those dodgy angles to compensate for my dodgy knees!

just found this that seems to say something similar

The specs of the sensor look good... seemingly having been fed down from above!
Nice high spec screen with flippy flappy articulation out of the side of the camera making it usable with a tripod!
There seems to be quite a lot of concentration on "special effects" and the movie modes!

Looks Nikon are trying to catch up with Canon :)

I bought a Canon 60D recently for the swivel screen, mic socket and eye-fi support, its a lovely camera.

Sample shots should be viewed with a grain of salt. They generally say a lot more about the photographer and viewer—specially the pixel peepers—in the following discussion, than they do about the camera. Early X100 sample shots set off flame-wars in the DPReview forums. Most name-brand cameras are pretty capable of taking acceptable photographs in real-world situations.
