Nikon D7000 price

I see the Nikon D7000 is now down to £820 on Amazon UK plus Nikon will do £80 cashback. Is this as low as the D7000 is likely to go? Hamish, what does your retailing experience tell you? I will finally get a D7000 before mid-summer, maybe I need to act quite soon?

Or are they cutting prices as the 3200 with 24MP is comming (not that I want 24MP - it's all about marketing)?

I'm a bit out of touch with the trade matey to be honest not to mention camera prices

That said, I doubt the anticipated 3200 will impact on the price of the d7000 they are too far apart in the range IMO
If you are looking at buying around summer just bare in mind that this range of camera likely had a 2 year cycle ... So it's replacement will bring the price down for sure! It's my guess that a replaent will be in the shops in the autumn!

If the price comes down any more it won't be a great deal until then I'd have thought ...

Is autumn to late?
Would a new model bother you if you had just bought one?

Hi Hamish,

Thanks for your thoughts! My thinking on the effect of the 3200 is that the 5100 up next up the range and that may suffer in marketing terms if it's not updated....which then in turn impacts the 7000. The floods in Thailand may delay the 2 year refresh cycle - it's hard to know....but I'd expect Nikon need to amortize their investment in the 7000 before replacing it. So it's hard to predict. The upshot is that the deal today looked good, I bought my D7000 and now they've all gone so I'm not alone! Whatever happens I'll have the use of the camera from this weekend.

Good news!!
Well keeps us posted on how you get on with it!
There are a few members here with them and I've never heard any complaints!

Be patient - I've a heck of a lot of learning to do! It's a big step up from an Olly E410 (Nikon FE and 801s back in the dark ages). I still love to handle the FE.

I had a pair of FE's gave one to a mate the other day ... I kept the sexy black one! lovely camera ... and especially easy to use!

It's the match needle metering you like int it ...
I was explaining to its new owner how that was the thing that made it so easy to use etc

I'm still a big fan of the f3 for its solid feel and fm2n for the batteryless operation ...
But after that, yeah, fe is next if say ...
I have a pair of FA's too ... Not keen on them at all!
