does anyone know of software that will allow me to take pics directly from computer when Nikon D7100 is connected to computer via cable and so i can see on screen what the camera can see before it takes the shots. Making a live view image appear on screen.............hope that makes sense.

I know canons own software that camera with my old 7D could do this........

cheers David......i cannot get LR to tether to my camera it just dont recognise it :-( however that software does work a treat cheers :-)

I use Camera Control Pro and it will do just what you want (it can be a bit quirky though). CaptureOne Pro from Phase One also supports tethered shooting using the D7100. You could try a demo version to see if it gives you live-view and the control you want. Another option (if you still have your iPad) is to use Camranger - Bob Rigby sell them and I'm sure Andy could help with one.
