Non Dedicated Flash Guns

I've been reading somewhere that a non dedicated flash gun can be used with a couple of RF603 triggers (that I just happen to have), to get off camera flash for the X-Pro1.

Can anyone recommend a cheap as chips option for non dedicated flash guns? I'm not really up on all this flash, flash stuff :D

Cheers

Yongnuo do some cheap as chips flash units - worth a look as you'll be using them in 'manual' mode - i.e non-TTL

I tried the Yongnuo RF603 trigger with my X-T1 (and some Eistein strobes), and could't get it to work - no idea why not - I see write-ups that are positive, and others expressing frustration/failure

Other cheapo triggers do work ok - I have used http://www.cowboystudio.com/product_p/npt-04.htm extensively with great results with studio strobes

I now use Elinchrom Skyport triggers with my Quadra flash - and they work like a charm.

All of these are of course non-TTL

Thanks Chris, appreciate the post.

All of the posts I've read with regards to RF603's say the Canon triggers are the ones that seem to work, so as I've got them I'm keen to give them a try.

Looking forward to seeing how you get on Dave - big fan of wireless flash now, so many possibilities
