Orb On Film

Dan Cattermole

Dan Down - The Steampunk Womble
I tried a light orb and shot it with me Pentax ME super and cable release. Orbs are everywhere on the internet and dominate the scene when it comes to light painting, I find that they are quite tedious at times especially when there is no decent background to go with it..... Just like I have done here.
But what I was really interested in was how a long exposure would effect the end result in terms of reciprocity failure, and as you can see from here that it is pretty obvious.
I think it was Hamish who made me aware if this a while ago, and after an experiment the understanding has become clearer.
Here is something for those interested http://filmphotographyproject.com/content/howto/2011/10/what-reciprocity-failure

I think with light painting I'm going to stick to the D7000 for now.... :)

Just an experiment ........

Thanks for looking :)

In the good old days strawberry fields gave the same effect :).
Very impressive Dan. for someone like me who does not know these types of trick with photography, very intriguing .

The light painting worked well Dan - but you do loose any light spill to the surrounds with film.

I will be testing reciprocity failure using the G617 - I'm using Velvia 50 ASA and shooting at f/22 to get some DOF, so exposures are on the lonnnnng side
