Critique Welcomed Palm Frond

We had a bit of a storm night last night - and sometime around midnight we were woken by a loud crash outside, which turned out to be a large palm frond that had fallen from the tree by the deck.

These things are large and heavy - so I'm glad it happened at night when we were all safely tucked up in bed!

Any way, every cloud has a silver lining - and as I cut-up the frond this afternoon so I could fit it into the green recycling bin, I took the opportunity to shoot it with the Fuji and 23mm Lens.

Nature is amazing in it's infinite variety and detail - the frond base looked and felt like thick leather, green and mottled on the outer skin, and ridged and golden on the inside.

Quite amazing.

I'm surprised our tree isn't down today - there's a fair storm outside...

Lovely shots, Chris. I like how it has fallen into the L shape of the pool wall. You have a pool!

What a gorgeous set of images Chris. Love them. Is that a fake Polaroid border you've used?
Thanks Pete - I prefer faux Polaroid- looks like I need to clean my faux rollers! :D

Thanks Rob :)

Really nice set of pics Chris. I hope that pot of poor little cacti didn't get too traumatized.
Thanks Glenn - the cactus was fine - the bee windmill suffered a little bendage but survived
