This is just a nice spot that I pass on the way to work. Some mornings the light is really superb so I stopped one day and took a few shots. There is no real strong features on the landscape so I used my telephoto lens to compress the image and give the shots a layered effect.

#2 with the crop and the layering caused by the mist is a winner :)

It has a bit more contrast as well - very nice
 
Hi Chris, Thank you. You're up very early aren't you? San Diego is something like 8 hrs behind UK? Off to shoot a sunrise?

Chris, Thats good I was worried that you had **** the bed, lol.

Hi Hamish, To enhance the layering effect I masked off logical sections of the image (such as a tree line or the white fence that cuts across from left to right) on a new layer and used a mix of screen blend mode or/and Multiply blend modes to make it appear that that layer has different lighting from the others.
