Photo Op With The Stars of the Show

Sorry, Brian, but it's the Roger Daltrey gig poster which has got my attention, not least because he is posing with a guitar. I didn't know he played. Nice to see him doing a worthwhile charity concert. Is he still able to draw crowds in the States?

He's one of the stars of the show Rob! ;)

I've seen footage of Roger playing guitar before. As I recall one of the concerts I saw he was playing a big Gibson dreadnought with what looked like maple back and sides. But that's not the only time I've seen him with a guitar. However, I've only seen him playing guitar in his more mature years. But, he was clearly a player early on. I believe I read that Pete Townsend bought his first guitar off Roger before the Who was the Who. Maybe even before they were the High Numbers. (I think that was their first band name.) He'll still draw a crowd here, but he won't fill a football stadium. Sadly, although his voice was a wonderful Rock and Roll instrument during the 60's and 70's, it sounds a wreck to me now.

As an aside, and by way of contrast, I saw Tony Bennett at the Hollywood Bowl a few weeks ago. It was the eve of his 87th birthday. Although he is careful to avoid over-stressing his vocal chords, he can crank it up when he wants to and his voice has matured like a fine claret.
