Very nice again Hamish. And another tree!! My favourite is the first though with the opposing diagonals (content and lead line). I like the framing of the tower and the position of tree and the way it helps divide up the frame. I think this might be part of why I like square framing so much. It is sort of neutral if you follow me and the content and composition become the most important visual components. What do you think? Am I talking rubbish?!
I like how in number 3 the chimney is framed by the branch of the tree. (Thus suggestive of Mother Nature's resilience and domination over man's pathetic attempts to control the Earth! )
I think you may have stumbled upon the root (!) cause of Hamish's reluctance to photograph trees. He is a child of the teaming metropolis of Worcester and has a deep seated reluctance to acknowledge the power and resilience of Mother Nature over the man-made world. I knew there must be a deep-seated psychological reason behind it. Well spotted!!
Nice Hamish. I have to say I'm completely drawn to 3. I love the the way the sun is shining on the right of trunk and the graduating shadow. The shadow of the chimney is the same like a man made mimic of the trunk. Very nice
Thanks Tom. Interesting. So do you think the slight slope that Hamish has included alludes to latent support of either the Royalists or the Parlimentarians?
I think the roof is a tiny bit off too isn't it. Can't tell withe tower. It's the parapet walls of the bridge that give the impression of slope though.
