A couple weeks ago I spend a few days in this quiet Gulf of California resort. It's only 6o mile from the US boarder and is relatively "undiscovered". The community is really starting to develop and there are some nice resorts there. The are in the process of fixing up the old downtown and in about a year it will be a nice place to hang out.

This is a very safe community and we had no problems with boarder crossings or any vehicle check points along the way. There are several good restaurants in the downtown area that would rate well in any community.

There is areas with nice sandy beaches that are well manicured and areas where it is very rocky and you wouldn't want to swim.

It was the peak of the shrimping season and there were boat out shrimping and fishing day and night. The local shrimp and flounder were excellent.

Here is just a little of what we saw:

I'll post a few more shots in a separate posting.

Dennis - loving the shot of the hotel/resort pool in #2 - lovely sky as well

Also like the sculpture in #3, lovely use of the ultra-wide (Bit of HDR?)

Certainly looks like a nice resort!
that boat is quite an impressive thing isnt it!?
Id def give a b&w convert a go on the boat i think ...
Its not a practical suggestion really, but a shot of a boat like that coming out of mist would make a great shot i think ...

Hamish,

Here is a B & W of a shrimping boat going out near sunset and one of the marble features in the plaza. The shrimp boat was not going out into the mist but the B&W does give it a moody feeling.

Chris,

I use Lightroom to process my raw files and it has some great tool to recover blow highlights. I usually shoot a series so I can pick the one with the best light balance then work it with Lightroom.

Here is a night shot of the hot tube and beach strip in the distance.

I prefer both the b&w images! :)
The compo of the one of the balls is better to my eye too ... It leads the eye to the statue better I think!
It's also much stronger due to there being less things to look at ... IMO anyway :)
