Here is one of my digital images of a purple Calla Lilly shot around 2009 using a Nikon D1X fitted with a Tamron 17-35mm zoom at 35mm close up. At the time I owned a florists and so it was easy to access some fabulous flowers and plants.

I think I remember these on the art of sound?
were there others to the set?

Yes Hamish, there are about seven in the set most of which are different flowers but with the same treatment.

Here is another image of a pair of Calla's but I don't think it has the same impact as the first possibly due to the different colour.

This is I think, a better image than the last one.

Very nicely rendered Saun. Quite reminiscent of botanical illustrations in some ways. I agree that the colours etc work best with the first but I prefer the framing of the second. To my eye the first needs a bit more space to the left of the flower.

Just to be awkward I prefer the colours in the second. I think the first wins out overall based on the flowers sitting more elegantly. Compositionally it just works better with the flowers separated I think although I do like them being taller in the frame in the second.

I think perhaps as a set they work best ... :)

Here is a shot of a chocolate Anthurium shot exactly the same way as the others but back to the square format as I also prefer it.

Yet another pink/purple Calla Lilly again back to the square format.

Shaun...I really like what you are doing here. I like the subtle colors...the floatiness (is that a word?) of the flower in simple background. I just like all of it.

Glenn, many thanks for your comment. I love doing this kind of thing as it just seems to work for me. I have so many images of flowers like this.
