question about the Nikon D700

can I use the auto iso feature in manual exposure mode? effectively adjusting the exposure with the iso sensitivity. I do this sometimes with flash exposures, changing the iso myself, on my D300.

eg, would stick to one speed and aperture. for shooting concerts really

new & shiny, not really my style!

someone recently called my cameras 'cool'....god forbid

"This guy below had a by todays measure an "old school" external battery pack (shot film?) for flash boost and a beat up Nikon, very cool. Anyone know who guy?"

**** hot photo taker though... Seriously shits on the d700/d3 from a huge hight in terms of image quality!
i loved my d3, in many ways I haven't "connected" with the d800 in the same way when shooting - the d3 was just quick, it felt like it was working with you. I'm not sure i always feel the same with the 800... But then I look at the photos ... Honestly, remarkable! Sooooo much more than the d3. Miles of dynamic range, no probs upto 6400iso and the detail ...
And the d600 isn't far off ...

but then I see my Nikons as tools for work so quality is paramount .. My other cameras are my toys ...

Im not sure what you are talking about in your quote??

it was a quote from this guy's blog. some of the paint and rubber is missing from my cameras, he thought that plus the old school battery pack was cool. my post Christmas waistline wasn't, though
