I can assure you no cameras were damaged in the taking of this picture :)

(some fun with an X-E1 and 18-55mm zoom )

Great idea Simon - A photo with real IMPACT! :D

Perfect use of the technique that I think ... Very nice :)
how do you find the lens ... Not that I have a x mount fugi, I'm just intrigued ...

Hi Hamish,

Thanks for the compliments (at bottom is another similiar pic of a man getting out of a car in traffic - same technique)

Recently I sold off all my heavy metal Nikon bodies (D1X, D2X and D2HS) and all my 2.8 glass = yikes !!!!
I brought into the Fuji X System because I just love the Fuji "colour pop" and the XE-1 plus lenses are so much lighter than what I'm used to. It's a pleasure to use them.

Firstly, I must say the build quality of the Fujinon glass is superb. Aperture and focus rings rotate very smoothly (almost too smoothly as they can easily be bumped when needing to shoot quickly in street shots etc)

I had initially brought the 35mm prime (which is super sharp btw) while waiting on the 18-55mm zoom. Now my confession is that since putting on the 18-55mm zoom, I've never used the 35mm prime again. The 18-55mm zoom is a very sharp lens too - not as sharp as the 35mm prime, but I'm no pixel peeper/MTF chart type (as you can tell by style of pics), but it easily surpasses sharpness standards for me.

I use the 18-55mm for all my street photo work as it's such a versatile focal range it covers almost all of my angles. I would like a 12mm (close to fish-eye) for some extreme wide angle stuff though so hopefully Fuji have this lens in the list of future X series lenses. I understand a 14mm is close to release (I've been keeping an eye out for it whilst here in Tokyo but I think its coming out mid-Jan)

The XE-1 is a smaller body (then the X Pro-1) to handle so the 18-55mm can feel "front heavy" but since getting a grip for the XE-1 body, it's allowed a western mans size hand a better grab volume.

I've taken the XE-1 plus 18-55mm with me to Japan (leaving the 35mm at home) and I'm giving them a serious workout here.
It's getting a bit beat up but it seems to take the knocks ok. In my opinion, it surpasses the Nikkor glassware for build quality and is equal to the Nikkor 2.8 zoom glassware in terms of optics.

That's quite the positive review!
Mir sounds like you really have found your perfect gear in the fuji!
