Very common site in my home state.
Can't get the sky right. Other than reshoot
(which would be easy) any suggestions ?
Any suggestions about any part of the photo
would be appreciated. You know how you can
look and look and think and think and miss the
most obvious problems :)
Thanks.

Ronald i have looked at this shot for quite a few minutes and i feel its rather quite hard to differentiate between one thing and another its all very similar sort of textures and colour / tones. I dont think it helps being a smaller image you have uploaded or the fact that its a version of Black & white PP

I hope you dont find that to be to harsh, just personal opinion & i would love to know other's thought on this shot

Really would love to see it a little larger & maybe colour ? :)

Harsh ?? Not by a long shot !! For someone to take the time and then
offer an honest opinion isn't harsh.... it's wonderful and I greatly appreciate
it. Will see if I can link a larger version to this post. I am still brand new
to the Flickr thing and forget to tell it what size when I copy the code :p
I was intentionally trying to see if I could increase the texture via tonal
contrast in Color Efex Pro and selective use of Unsharp Mask.
Again, really appreciate the input. It helps.
Ron

Tried to attach a larger version but got an error message. Sorry. Will try again
later.

I tend to agree with Daz Ronald. Id also be tempted to concentrate on that old barn it looks like its screaming come photograph me in b&w :D

Thanks Allan. Really appreciate it.
I had planned to go back at a different time of day
and , hopefully , with a different sky. It's only about
45 minutes from home.
Thanks again.
Ron

I like it and think it'd look great bigger, as you say the sky never helped you out so maybe crop it out but apart from that I really like it , brilliant desaturated look

WHat is the old saying .... Great minds :)
I had just finished playing with this again.
I had thought it might be too cluttered or busy
and the suggestions above seemed to lean
that way too. I cropped it in the same aspect ratio
from the left hand side along the top of the background
trees to just right of the hay rake. Looks better.
Y'all taking time to help has, in my opinion, made this
a half way descent pic. Many thanks :)
Ron

Edit : Thanks Darren

I looked at a larger version on your Flickr site. I like the composition and detail. I might try to lighten the big tree some so it stands out from the crowd, so to speak. Overall though I like the B&W treatment.

Thanks Ralph.
I'm still playing with this one. WIll try to open up the tree aome and see what I get.
Took the shot for a "Barns" competition at the local club and it doesn't come up till
the Fall so I have plenty of time .
THanks again.
