Scruffy the badger

Lesley Jones

Otherwise know as Zooey
We have a family of badgers feeding in our garden every night. A couple of years ago we also had another pair from a sett at the bottom of our fields. They were both quite tame and just before we lost Scruff to old age, I managed to stroke his chin while he ate peanuts from a jug. Normally I was too busy to photograph them, but on the longest day of the year, he turned up in broad daylight and I had to rush indoors to get the camera. I was about six feet from him when I took this. There were others where he got too close for me to zoom out. I have since taken some of the wild family in the woods, but they are very tricky and generally don't come out until dusk.

Shot at ISO 4000, so I have kept the shadows darker to avoid noise.

I did have a family of badgers cross a path about 6 feet in front of me one morning.
Of course, I was on my way to work, so no camera to hand....

Great shot .There are two setts near me but have only seen the Badgers when it has been pitch black and no camera on me.

Great shot, closest i ever came was one morning at Loch Etive just as the sun was coming up a badger ran over my feet on it's way for something to eat .... then when I turned around 3 stags were standing behind me lol

Very impressive - ISO4000 - that's nuts! ;)
