Sharpening Methods

I just use the sliders on LR, mostly. I don't have a formula for it but as a general rule, I do small radius for architecture and larger for people, then just slide until I'm happy.

Darren, your method is good and has the right to existence if applied to architecture or landscapes. What concerns portraits, it's better sharp in Photoshop on another layer and then erase sharpening by eraser or through the mask in order to sharp only a person, but not the whole image.

I don't doubt that there are more precise methods in PS, or with other specific tools. But there is also a masking slider in LR which enables you to be more specific on what you're sharpening and works well for portraits - at least good enough for me.
