Soft proofing

We are thinking of getting a few of these canvas made,

Canvas Prints - Personalised Photo Canvas Printing - PhotoBox

And they provide icc profiles on their site,

ICC Colour Profiles

But the soft proofing options aren't immediately obvious to me in LR3, and I am not sure what to do with the icc file. It would be great if someone could give me some instructions on how to perform the soft proofing steps, so the print will look closer to what's expected?

Hi Jim, you'll need a plugin for LR3 (Lightroom Plugins - Soft Proofing for Lightroom) but it is built into LR4.

I am out shooting atm, I will try to explain properly if other better informed members haven't beat me to it when I finish.

basically the colours you see on screen and prints won't be the same, it is advisable to adjust colours for the target printer (rather than your display) so you have a better chance to get a print looking closer to what you see on computer.

It is a more realistic representation on screen of what will be presented on a print by showing what impact the profile of a given output device will have on the finished version.
