Soft Shutter Release ?????

I was mooching on ebay earlier............ and saw these pretty coloured "Soft Shutter" screw in thingys......... I have a question ?????

Are they of any real practical use or they just a pointless bit of shiny rubbish to make your camera look pretty ????

(I have to note here that even if they are a practical thingy to help take that "Killer Shot" ...... I'd only buy a black one anyway)

Perhaps someone can give me the "low down" on this.........

Recommended by the sound of it. Might get one too.

I think I'll go get one and try it............ If I like it. I'll put a dab of threadlock on it so I don't lose it .............. It still need to be black though.

I bought gold coloured metal one for x10 and it made such a difference, but it dropped off.

I just bought 2 more 1 for x10 & 1 for x pro 1 both gold coloured, there pretty good, make big difference to tiny shutter buttons but only screw into the shutter release button a fraction so make sure you tighten then regularly

convex or Concave for the X10 ?????.......... Or does it matter not ????

I like mine on the X100 and X-Pro1 - makes for smoother shutter operation - you can squeeze the shutter release using the inside of the 2nd segment of your trigger finger, instead of jabbing with the end.

Use a dab of thread-lock to stop them going AWOL

Or nail polish if thread lock isn't to hand

I have convex ones - a silver one for the X100 and a black one for the X-Pro1

Ok I bought one on ebay ............. Seems like a whole load of money for something so damn tiny though

It's only the profit that makes it expensive Pete! :D

Well I guess there is less profiteering in US Chris ........ Over there you buy 'em for five or six George Washingtons.......... They are three times that here ......... and if you aren't careful on ebay you end up buying the damn thing from a Chinese sweat shop and it thakes four months to get here.
