Critique Welcomed Some Abstract Flood Shots

the flaming pear flood filter is way overused. i thought you'd know better.
the first two are nice, but the last one has the best comp. imo. i like the leading lines in the underwater paving slabs that take you to the fence. great tones.

I like #3 as well - tells the story and is a strong comp

So is it a bit wet in Worcester then?

Dam it Hamish! I've been walking around the floods for a while now to try and get something 'different' just like these than to the generic flood shots that everyone else would be taking.......
I've failed on that department for sure, just couldn't get my mind to think. These have inspired me. Enough said.

Especially the last one, love the fading slaps..

Love the quality of these shots, Hamish, as well as their composition. The focus on the twigs and branches in the first is perfection.

I know, I'm such a cheat Beth, I'm sorry... If only it would just rain for real here in the uk, it just been so dry lately!

Thanks (Beth Chris and Dan) for the comments on the last, I am torn between that and the second, I just like the water texture in the second!

It's been dry as a bone all over the UK since well before Christmas Chris! ;)

I've found my eye in pointing a camera at stuff I wouldn't have before in using my compact cameras - not sure why, but mostly I think the lack of distraction from framing helps concentrate the eye/mind!
I've also been trying to shoot a lot more by often committing a whole roll to a single subject or outing ... It's helped a lot Dan, I can only recommend it for helping find less obvious angles if you feel you aren't!?

Thanks Rob, I have a new lens, and this is just the quality I was hoping for really! I thought you might like the twiggy one, I'm glad you do! :)

A fine set Hamish. The third is my favourite also. What I really like about it is the disconnect when the paving fades away and then there is a break of just water before the railings emerge. It adds a touch of mystery. I like the patterns in the water in the second but the twigs are a bit distracting.
