Great exhibition called Celts at the National Museum of Scotland, in Edinburgh. Alas, no photography allowed in the exhibition. DP0Q.

Boy, there is a lot to absorb here. All great shots, but so many different techniques. That first photo is really nice. It could have been taken 100 years ago with a large format camera, as long as you don't look too closely at the clothing. The motion blur ones from overhead are equally awesome, in their own way. The use of the reflection in the bonnet of the car in the street scene is very well done. Good eye.

Many thanks, John. You are one of the few consistent commentators these days, and that is appreciated. I'm looking forward to seeing your new shots when you get the time. I'm beginning to fear I'm uploading too many shots, as I take photos most days. But that's what this site is for, and I hope more people find the time to upload their images.

I don't know about that, Rob. The participation seems to have dropped since I joined. I'm beginning to think I drove everyone away. :( Actually, the weather is changing and people will be more apt to be out and about with a camera, so maybe the activity on here will begin to pick up soon. The test shots I took should be back from the processor in the next few days. I'm anxious to see how the cameras and lenses performed. If everything looks good, I'll start shooting some film shots right away. I'm also going to be scanning some family photos, some of which were taken in the 30's and 40's.

John I think with so few active members there are to be days where not many images are posted and at times we are are all more active at certain times. I used to post a lot more and took many photo's everyday, but am now deciding my time between other passions. Love to see you posting everyday and good to see your scans.

Excellent set Rob and good to feel the enthusiasm. My own enthusiasm is somewhat curtailed by circumstances which is frustrating but I can at least look in here and see sets like this which are well worth seeing on many levels. I remember the first image well taken with another camera of your's and am enjoying it as much this time around.
Now the last image, I had to make sure from historically speaking if it was possibly a self portrait ;). That image is still one to remember well, so good it is. The fourth image I can imagine you about to snatch some chocolate brownie from a protective lady with a sharp knife. All good images.

Haha, Julian, I believe you are referring to my Portrait Of The Artist As A Labrapoodle! A classic indeed, though I say so myself.
I love the knife shot. I asked her if I could take a photo. She said yes, then quickly took the knife out of the shot - but I got her just in time. She was very nice, and not as evil as my shot might lead one to think.

Good to see you are still popping in, Julian. As long as you are being creative, life can be bearable. I like the pots on your Flickr site.

Thanks Rob. Yes going potty, whats new eh. Trouble is I love it all and no time. I did decide the other day to split my year and have periods doing one thing I love through those periods. It would mean breaking the year into thirds, is that potty? Really not a clue though and just muddling through.
I do though have a photograph which I passed in the car. I mean too return as soon as I feel up to it , if nothing else it keeps photography in my mind and something to look forward to.

I have the same problem - though it's not really a problem - with photography versus music. I'm lucky in that, if I get bored with one, the other pops up to say hello. If you see me around here a lot, it means my music is taking time out, and vice versa.

Yes although I rarely get bored but yes I guess things get dull at times.
Just wondered when you purchased your Quattros Rob and if you got the Sigma rebate? I remember getting my First Merrill with the rebate offered and then about four months later they dropped the price too that £350 each. Going to gamble and hoping a similar timeline will happen.

Yes, I got the rebate. The prices had already dropped by £300 to around £650, and then the rebate is £125 per camera. They might well drop further, but I got mine as a part-exchange. I even made a small profit on the deal

I just popped in to say hello and contribute with my sincere congratulations on a fine series there, most people have said it already, albeit not in my favourite shades. I can live with it though. The reasons for not contributing with more pictures and that YOU are few here, have to do with some being potty, some being restricted by others, pure envy I assume, and naturally shyness and modesty which are some of my virtues and language barriers as well. If all these conditions can be resolved and cured, we may have taken a giant step in the right direction. Disputes that occur between Scots and some with horns or those very biased in regard to horns, may also scare some people away from this forum. Considering some also have to work for a living, makes it all the more difficult. I also believe that the climate in different parts of the globe, especially thinking of the harsh conditions in California, Sydney area down under and San Diego for instance, makes it all the more plausible. Good it is to see then that Cornishmen or was it a man, a bearded old buggar up in Scotland, a newcomer in Michigan, some down in Texas and a man from Hong Kong still persistently struggle in here, and not to forget a fine lady in Italy, a flying Dutchman and a one down in Potsdam I quite can't figure out. In case I have forgotten a Swede or so, please bear with me. If also persons in here dared give more critique as pointing out distortions, blown out highlights and such, I am sure there shall be Moore contributors, with noe mention of beers, but possibly some sour faces as well. I am a man of few words generally, as now, so that's my opinions. Have a good day, all of you. Sayonara as they say in, where was it again.....

Excellent Rob I only saw the rebate yesterday. Cheapest I have seen the DPzero is £649 without and £699 with the viewer at parkcamera's. Did you get the Viewer? if so does it work well?

Thank you, Ivar!

Julian - yes, I have the viewer. I looked through it once. Nice. Have never used it, but probably will in the summertime, when the display is hard to see. It's bulky, though. I imagine I could live without it, but there it is. We shall see.

A fine set, Rob. Love the reflection on the taxi roof and the sleight of hand with the knife. Also, the wee dug, albeit a blurry image, doesn't seem to suffer from the blur. He fairly pops out of the picture with the connotation of crystal clarity.
