Sony A850/900 users?

Anyone here using a Sony A850/900? I have been considering one of these but would love to hear some feedback from users, I do not know of anyone using one in my part of the world, even the local shops seem to only stock the entry level Sony DSLR's.

I would like to get hold of a RAW file from one of these bodies, preferably a landscape shot with quite high DR, would like to see what I can do with it.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I might be able to swing this for you ... I'll see what I can sort out tomorrow and let you know ... Might just be a street scene of Worcester though if that's any good to you?

That will be wonderful! Thanks, a street scene will be perfect! I want to see how much detail I can get out of it and how tolerant it is of being pushed and pulled. Not all cameras are equal when it comes to that. I think on paper the A850/900 are really great deals!

just had a wonder up to local jessops ... unfortunately no stock ... BUT...
the sony rep was there, i asked him if he could arrange something for me, he got on the phone and had a chat with someone who said they would go out and take a shot ... i gave him my email address, so, if he is good to his word he should be sending me a raw file for you

Thanks you so much for all the trouble you are going to! I REALLY appreciate it!

That will be perfect, I must say I am tempted, but I have also learned a lesson or two in the past where I bought cameras that had good reviews and then they turned out to be unsuitable for my specific shooting and PP style.

That makes it even more difficult in the Sony case is that I would have to buy not only a body but a lens or two as well. Once I have played with the file I will post my decision, along with the reasons and the image, here.

Oh, btw, I believe the A850 has been discontinued......
