Chris,...nice! (I'm in that picture! See that hill on the horizon? That's the Palos Verdes Peninsula--PV for short. I'm just right of center and just this side of it. However, I'm not big enough to be seen! But I'm in there! )

Remarkably, Catalina is visible, too, just beyond and right of PV. Seriously nice pano, Chris!

It was my first visit to the observatory, and I thought the cloud would ruin any photos - but in the end it added a touch of drama

The place was very quiet - just a few foreign tourists taking selfies

You couldn't have picked a better day, Chris. The sky was very clear due to the recent rain. That you can see me and also Catalina Island in the pano is testimony to this.

Actually @Rob MacKillop, Sadie doesn't bark. I think this may be a personality quirk I've never mentioned to RPFrs, but it's true: She doesn't bark.

Now, she can bark, and I've heard her do so once or twice (and oh my goodness what a lovely and mellifluous sound she creates--she should be a singer!), but she simply prefers not to I guess. She's cool as a cucumber as you know, and I'm guessing she simply sees no reason to create unnecessary noise or drama.

Agreed - clear air over LA is a rare event!

I plan to return for shots in other conditions and times of the day, as it's such a stunning view - the classic nighttime LA shot is on my to-do list
